Let the delightful words of this beautiful poem charm and inspire your busy day.

--Description: 17th C, Shakespeare W., Love, Adoration--

Those lips that Love's own hand did make
Breathed forth the sound that said "I hate"
To me that languished for her sake;
But when she saw my woeful state,
Straight in her heart did mercy come,
Chiding that tongue that ever sweet
Was used in giving gentle doom,
And taught it thus anew to greet:
"I hate" she altered with an end,
That followed it as gentle day
Doth follow night, who like a fiend
From heaven to hell is flown away.
"I hate" from hate away she threw,
And saved my life, saying "not you."

William Shakespeare

--Did You Know: The Romantics, in particular, acclaimed Shakespeare's genius, and the Victorians hero-worshipped Shakespeare with a reverence that George Bernard Shaw called "bardolatry".

--Word of the Day:
Meaning: contravene \kon-truh-VEEN\ , transitive verb
1. To act or be counter to; to violate.
2. To oppose in argument; to contradict.
Example: In 1620 most people considered the likelihood of reversing the seasons inside a building impossible, and many deemed it sacrilege, an attempt to contravene the natural order, to twist the configuration of the world established by God.
(Tom Shachtman, Absolute Zero and the Conquest of Cold)

--Quote of the Day: "Love - a wildly misunderstood although highly desirable malfunction of the heart which weakens the brain, causes eyes to sparkle, cheeks to glow, blood pressure to rise and the lips to pucker"
